CBTS was accredited by ARTS in 2019. As an accrediting agency, ARTS has achieved recognition by the Council for Higher Education Accreditation (CHEA) for the following scope of accreditation: ARTS Commission on Accreditation accredits United States-based institutions and other locations as determined by the Commission on Accreditation, which offer baccalaureate and/or graduate degrees in fields aimed at preparing students for Christian service and ministry through biblical and theological studies of Reformed traditions. (2024)
Covenant Baptist Theological Seminary has been exempted from licensure as a religious institution from the Kentucky Council of Postsecondary Education.
According to the Kentucky Council on Postsecondary Education diploma mills are defined as follows:
A diploma or degree mill is any educational organization or service that sells credentials with the promise that it will take little time or coursework.
Students should be aware of such institutions and check with the Council for Higher Education to insure that the institution where they are seeking a degree is not one of these “mills.” While CBTS seeks to offer classes and degree programs that are academically credible, prospective students need to be aware of this issue.
